Anyone going to MAR this weekend? Buckingham County, VA. The last time I went was in 1995 in my old Series IIA. SHOCKINGLY, in 1995 my Series IIA was 32 years old. It has now been 30 years since I attended. DANG that makes me feel old. Due to travel, I'll only be there on Saturday but I'm seriously looking forward to it. I've got to dig out some of my old photos. Still have the t-shirt, but at this stage of life, I think my son will be sporting it and not my "expanded" self....
Back then, I would get catalogs from Rovers North and Atlantic British to source parts on my frame up restoration. They are sponsors along with Sarek, Lucky8 and all the other great companies that I spend my childrens' inheritance at.
Finally, I'll be able to post pics like the PNW contingent!!
We have been attending and supporting the Rover Owners Association of Virginia's Mid Atlantic Rally for many years! This year will be a major milestone since it is commemorating 50 years of ROAV! It is also supported this year by ANARC, the Association of North American Rover Clubs, this year , so it is going to be huge! Please let me know if you have any questions about the event. We will be there as a sponsor and will have demos and product on site.
Look forward to seeing you there. I briefly met you at SCARR a couple years ago, but you were busy loading up to go replace a drive shaft. I wish I had the nerve to play as hard as you do!
A long time ago I was into bike racing. Criteriums were the thing. Racing around city blocks. Road rash and collar bones were common targets. A friend once said: Race like you have a day job! That's kinda me with my Defender...
Well, I didn't play nice with my little trailer queen... I got trapped between three trees and for the first time ever, I wished I had a 90. As I tried to weave thru them, I slid down the off camber road into one of them. Then again. And again. And maybe again. Lost the mirror trying to back up and decided to pull the lunchbox so I didn't lose the back window. All in all, not as much carnage as I had feared at the time. I've already replaced the mirror from e-bay and looks as good as new. Now searching for a replacement door. So many are parted out of CoPart that I think its only a matter of time before I find one in the right color or, better, will finally use the off-color replacement as an excuse to get the thing fully wrapped/painted in British Racing Green!
EDIT: Feel free to post your favorite spot to get parted vehicle bits and pieces. I'm all over ebay, but if anyone knows where CoPart Defenders wind up - would love the pointers. Thanks.
Missed you @sarek Saw you briefly at the TEA, helping with the winch class. I should have attended BEFORE trail riding as I had to use my wench a few times for myself and others. I'd have appreciated the tips more!! Maybe next one.
Really wished I had some pics of it "in situ" but I was a bit busy and, surprisingly, wasn't doing the selfies/pics as much as usual while it happened.
