Notified today my D130 V8 production date has pushed back once again.

Original production date was 12/1/23.
Then 1/12/24.
Then 2/2/24.
Now told 2/23/24.

Anyone looked at placing an order recently? What is availability of build slots and order lead time looking like?

Also any indication when they shift to 2025 MY production (for USA) - it seems to get earlier each year...

I spoke with two local dealers about placing an order.

One said allocations weren't a problem for them because of how much volume they move, but would not even try to give me any specifics. To the contrary, they said "there are no allocations" as if it's not actually a thing, but also that it would be at least a 9 month wait once an order was actually placed. So much for "no problem." Anyway, without me asking, they entered me in a generic queue. To my ears, that sounded like "yeah, maybe we'll take a look at ordering your car when we're sure we can't get a higher profit from someone else." Whatever, I let it ride without any expectations from them.

The other dealer was reluctant, but after some prodding, he called and said yes, they have an allocation with an optimistic build date. Great! But when I didn't hear the promised confirmation, I called back about status. He claimed they put the order in, but the expected delivery date slipped by a month or two. No documentation of anything, so not a confident feeling, but maybe this one will actually show up one day?

I really wish I could just order on-line with full transparency about status. The opaque, game-playing dealer model is one of the worst consumer experiences to be had in the U.S.

I gave up waiting, as covered in another thread the 130's with a V8 have delivery dates that keep walking back. Rumors of EPA issues and vehicles stuck ports are out there but no one seems to have the full or real story as to what is going on. Looking at the Land Rover US website the 2024 MY 130 with a V8 is no longer shown as an available model.

Two weeks ago I found a 2024 Range Rover LWB 7-Seat at a dealer a few hours away, it had just arrived and came available that day, was built in mid-December. I jumped on it and canceled my V8 Defender 130 ordered last August. It had been long enough.

You 100% made the better choice. Way more car for the money.
