That's a good thing...confirms what I thought after my 1 hour test drive. I remember the 2005 Motor Trend SUV of the year was the LR3. I sure liked my LR3 and like my current LR4's.

I doubt the 2017 Discovery 5 was even considered for this honor.

Why the chip on your shoulder? The Disco V and the Def share a huge array of parts and tech and the shared platform... I find it hard to rationalize liking one while bad-mouthing the other. Can you name something that the LR4 does better than the Disco 5 besides your subjective opinion on the look? Heck, even what the Def does that the Disco 5 doesn't besides minor approach degrees?

No chip, the D5 just wasn't for me (and many others) coming from an LR4. Mostly small things like the view out of the windshield which has you looking partially under the hood rather than over it. The rotary shift wheel, lack of AC vents, no more stadium seating for the 2nd and 3rd rows, power tailgate instead of a manual split tailgate. Maybe the interior looked too luxurious for a wet dog and beach sand. And yes, I prefer the boxy look of the LR4 and Defender better.

I'll try to behave better going forward and not act like the LR4 forum people that hate the D5 and the new Defender.
