Hi Everybody
I wanted to introduce myself after lurking and spending a few months reading and researching the Defender and all of its quirks (so to speak) in this forum. I went ahead and special ordered a 2025 130 X-Dynamic from my dealer in central NJ at the end of August. Much to my surprise it was delivered earlier and I took ownership of it yesterday. Original delivery date was end of Dec and then was moved to Mid Nov.
I'm very happy with my purchase and I absolutely love the ride. I opted for the 130 with Captain Chairs as I have 2 small kids and parents (who don't drive anymore) so getting the larger 130 made the most sense (though I really wanted the 110 but the 7 seater option in the 110 has very little room). This is a bit of a treat to myself as I turn the big 5-0 soon. I've never done off-roading so I'm looking to learn and also part of the reason I bought the Defender vs another 7-seater. Most likely I'll be signing up for the Land Rover Experience in VT. Kids are excited to do some wading lol
Just a few random thoughts on the car after taking possession
- The seats are not as 'bucket-y' as I thought they would be. The seat area is more flat, with very little side support for my thighs. I guess I got used my Mazda and also the Volvo. Just going to take a bit of adjusting
- For being such a large car, I don't really feel like I'm driving a big car at all. I'm very surprised at the overall handling
- Very happy I opted for the Captain chairs, makes getting into the third row a breeze for the kids
- I opted for the Clearsight rearview mirror - but there is only 1 'sharkfin' ! (I for some random reason though that there would be 2)
I attached some pics when I picked up car from dealer from the outside.
I'm looking forward to learning more from everyone here (I've already learned so much!) and hopefully can contribute as well!
The Defender has always had just one shark fin antenna regardless if you have ClearSight or not. The Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and the facelift version of the first generation Evoque all have the dual antennas. Why? I don't know. Completely unnecessary if you'd ask me.
Congratulations!! We’ve seriously considered trading our 2020 110 7 seater for the 130 with captains chars just for the additional space. But I’ve got the 110 just the way I like it, and do not look forward to starting from scratch. Great looking vehicle. I know you’ll love it.
Congratulations mate! Welcome to the club. You made some great choices on this car, specifically choosing 20" wheels (overall the best driving wheel imo) and the clearsight mirror - really helps seeing out the back with a car full of people and bags. You're going to definitely make a lot of memories with this car, for some reason it's just what they do.
Thank you everyone! I finally had a chance to drive it around today and customize some settings. I am so happy with the purchase. It's funny, my kids only want to sit in this car now, which is fine by me - more drive time!
