New Defender CV Shaft Failures
Link up with your local Rover club and see what's happening in your neck of the woods. I'm in Georgia and went to Texas for this one.
Is there ever anything in Georgia? Or adjacent states? I’m new to the whole Rover side of things, coming from jeep.
There are LONG distances across Texas. So, for the same ride duration, you should look into Rover Owners of Virginia (https://www.roav.org/). Their fall Mid-Atlantic Rally was always fun. I have fond memories of riding in a Forward Control 101 that used to show up.
On that note, maybe someone can resurrect (or make) a thread on Rover gatherings!

I have no sympathy for those who do.
I see this all the time of Rennlist. People beating the snot out of their P-cars on track and some with significant (crap mods, bad aftermarket parts, etc., etc.,) bitch and complain at Porsche when their cars break.
Yup. You play, you pay. Simple as that.

^^ Love it! I did a full day in Asheville in November and learned a lot about the specifics of off-roading this truck vs. conventional 4x4s. In fact, I just spend a half-day in north Georgia mountains doing things like you’re picturing there, and I remain amazed at this truck’s capability compared to my heavily built Rubicon-Plus on 37s. Not that this did anything I couldn’t do in the Jeep, but the calm, quiet, non-chalant way it goes about it is so very different.
One of the “tells” came when I got home and cleaned up. The Jeep would take an hour with a pressure washer, just trying to get the mud out of the crannies. The Defender was dirty but looked no different than if I’d been driving on a paved road with muddy puddles in it that I was forced to drive through. I realized that this was because there was zero — and I mean ZERO — wheel slip. The programming just doesn’t allow it. So I wasn’t flinging mud every time I went through a slop hole. And one of them in particular was 30” deep and filled with opaque mud-water lying on top of mud that had been underwater for weeks. The Landie just settled down into it and walked calmly across the floor, then eased up the steep other bank without any drama. The Jeep would have been showing 30mph on the speedo and making a rooster tail out the back 15 feet high.
