Default Are new Defender orders all for model year 2023 now?

Hi- getting some mixed messages: I saw that 1 member here said that their Defender order placed yesterday is going to be a 2023. My local dealer said that the current orders are still for 2022's. Anyone else able to weigh in?

Wow, this is crazy if true. I started searching in earnest in late-February. If you ordered then you were ordering a 2021. When I got ready to order, in March, I had to start over because the 2021 Configurator was no longer on-line and there wasn't a 2022 yet. Finally ordered a 2022 on March 25. And now we're ordering 2023s? Seems like at Pebble Beach in 20 years EVERYBODY showing a 2020-2022 Defender will have "1 of 500".

As of yesterday (approximately), the LR USA website is showing the Defender as a 2023 model... but my dealer says that he isn't able to order 2023's. Odd.

Defender orders that were not accepted by LR will be moved to 2023 models. These will be built in January as 2023.

LR is not accepting any more new orders for 2022MY.

Anyone else think our delivery dates will be pushed to Q4’22 from late Q1’22? Seems very odd to deliver a future year model so early. I haven’t reached out to my SA yet, but when we ordered it was warned we would be pushed to a 2023 and estimated delivery would be late Q1 early Q2.

The only rule in the United States is that you cannot have on our shores any model year vehicles other than the next calendar year as of Jan 1 of the current calendar year. So MY 2023 trucks could arrive on Jan 2 of 2022.

But in keeping with your point, it is odd to intro the next MY that early other than when there’s a new model introduction. For instance, I bought a 2005 987 Boxster in February 2004, but that was the launch of the 987.

I'm new to the forum so apologies if this is the wrong thread. For what it's worth I put a dealer deposit for a D90 late June 2021 for a MY2022. My order went final in January 2022 for a MY2023 with a production date of 2/18/22 and a delivery date of 4/15/22. Was originally told to expect delivery Nov/Dec 2022 but in October was told that all V8 builds at that point would be MY2023.

My V8 that’s being built this week is a 23.

Good to see everyone cancelling their orders. I refuse to spend $90k on a vehicle that does not have the tech options and only one key. Sold my 2016 supercharged Range Rover at a profit and will drive the 2011 LR4 for another year. It is basically optioned the same as a defender would be. If this situation continues much into 2023 I will buy a different brand and model. Pains me to say that but the Defenders being manufactured now will take a big depreciation hit in 4-5 years.
