New Rack Offering - upTOP Overland
I dont find it particularly attractive. The waterjet cutting in the verticals just feels techy and not at all aligned with the aesthetics of the truck, but to each ones own.
And I do agree, that it's pretty easy to figure out a solution that can mount directly to the roof rails, why opt for a solution that could potential void your warranty should issues arise down the road?
I like the integration of the work lights. How are they routed down into the cabin? Seems like this is something that has to be outfitted at their shop to gain that functionality?

routed through the roof towards back on driver side. The rack doesn’t come with the lights... just an option I added.
Regarding warranty - not sure that’s really going to be a thing. I was one of the roof bolt issues and led a coordinated effort to provide evidence to JLR that the bolt situation is ridiculous. They agreed it was covered under warranty. Ultimately - they freakin coated the heck out of the bolts with locktite. Its crazy to see how much they used and to get them out would require heating which you just can’t do with them in the vehicle.
so more info about the lighting and wiring. so assuming you had to drill a hole in your roof.
i want lights but holes in my roof seem a little daunting

The lighting is definitely extra. That was

Summary - back left corner driver side in the drip rAil behind the last unused mounting location is where em they went in. Drilled through w/ waterproof grommet and pass wiring through the open space b/n headliner/roof to the A pillar where it follows done and secured to pre-existing wiring harnesses. Used factory ground lug in the dash so no extra holes. Main feed wiring passes through hood release sleeve.
There’s a bunch more detail on what they used and the quality of materials etc. Bottom line - they’re rockstars and have seemingly created some impressive wiring/systems for their racks. It’s super clean.
willing to pay any reputable shop to do the install. Here in Cali not as many options especially in Norcal
It was daunting which is why I paid the experts to do it. upTOP did a bang up job with it and I trust them wholeheartedly with it. I asked how they ran it all. Unfortunately- if you want lights you’re gonna have to drill...

normal height includes shark fin?
Yes forgot to mention that. 77” is to the top of the shark fin. The rack sits just above the camera eye as to not interfere.
you have a high clearance garage. i wouldn’t be able to get in with the tent on. that’s the dilemma. don’t want to leave the truck outside
