No Interactive Display
I think it’s hilarious all of the crybabies refusing to man up and just buy it on eBay and pay someone 100 bucks to install it. You beta males act like it’s the end of the world and the sky is falling.
That’s quite the advice, for all those ‘beta’ males out there. You must be one of those ‘alpha’ kind of guys. So those without the digital displays should follow your line of thinking, and buy a USED display from some stranger on eBay and pay some other ‘guy’ $100 dollars to install it. Sounds so simple right? Have you ever dismantled a dashboard? Know what’s behind it? Realize that all the electronics must be mated to the vehicle using proprietary equipment, using software that that ‘guy’ doesn’t have? I wouldn’t buy an oil filter on eBay, what with all the scams, knock-offs and rip-offs out there. But it sounds like you’re a Master Mechanic, so the advice will most likely be considered by the Defender owner’s masses.I wouldn’t trust someone to change my oil for $100. Good advice. Any takers?
That company or companies which sell parts from wrecked Defenders "guarantee" that they are operational. Yes, they may be, but not for your vehicle. I called them and asked: will it work with mine ? So, I was told that "it works as a unit" but you will need "some one" to install it.
Yeah, I agree with @WTFChuck is all wasted money.
These vehicles are not fixable by us (well, by a vast majority of "us" ). Sad, but true.

Thus we should all be wildly backing the "Right to Repair" movement: https://www.repair.org/. Never had trouble trying to install a part on my Series or Defender 1. The manufacturers are intentionally trying to keep folks from working on things. Well not all of them, but certainly JLR is on that path.
