Octa Arrived!!
I took delivery of my OCTA Friday. I drove it about 5 mlies and took the standard sales briefing for about an hour. Remember, the OCTA is new to the dealers also so the sales briefing was definitely a learning curve for both of us. The OCTA was then carted off to the detailing shop for PPF and coating. Therefore, my impressions herein are based on a very limited experience. These impressions are driven by noted differences in owning two 2023 Defenders – 90X and 110X so the comments below maybe related not only to OCTA changes but model year changes.
1. I love it. Not a First Edition - Charente Grey, tow hitch receiver, 20’ wheels, interior protection.
2. One glitch – I ordered the Duratrac all-terrain tires. The customer order form was very clear to include the $350.00. But I got the BF Goodrich all terrain tires. I had researched both before ordering and the macho in me fell for the marketing of the Duratracs. I have the older Duratracs 19” on my Defenders and like them. At my age, I only go where “911” can get to me, so extreme off-roading is out anyway. The BF’s are a good tire, good enough for me and I do much more on-road travel. I listened in on the conversation between the dealer and LR – there seems to be a little issue in the ordering configurator (not the customer facing configurator) when ordering the all terrains. So, if your dead set on the Duratracs, I would double check with your dealer to confirm with LR. I did learn that the dealers do NOT have the new Duratrac RT in inventory and it didn’t seem like LR did either!
3. If you enter your VIN number in the online guide the OCTA related info appears. It may anyway.
4. Obviously the engine bay is a different configuration – fluids, air, etc. The engine oil is 0-30W vs 0-20W. Engine oil level shows up in PIVI PRO! per the manual.
5. The instrument display is digital but different to the 2023 models. No two dial mode.
6. Locking nuts are for spare tire only and no lock not configuration display on the nut.
7. The space under the rear area holds the tire jack only. NO extra spare room.
8. There is a 310 mile period until the performance kicks in (not really sure what this means but either did the salesman). Then a 2,000 mile break-in period which basically means take it easy – no rock crawling or street racing, darn.
9. The V8 sound in comfort mode did not seem much different from my P400s. Dynamic mode and OSTA mode make a big difference.
10. My OCTA arrived in Port of Baltimore Feb 5 and delivered to dealer March 20. Others have been similarly been delivered over the past week. Hopefully some of that time was due to US Government approvals and should be quicker now.

Wow!! I should have known Justin @ Lucky8 would be one of the first to score the Octa. The good news is that I now will get to watch a lot of videos & info on this thing. Loved the red bag of money! I wonder how many miles before it goes off road.... Definitely going to need to change those tires.
