When you are able to get it all up and running, please give an update as to its functionality.
What I know so far , to connect to live view the cam needs to power up & you have to join the cameras wifi network. With the car in the driveway, I can unlock the doors to wake up the camera and then I can sign on to access the live view, (cameras don’t have night vision so I can’t see anything when it’s dark out). I am assuming you can’t connect to the cameras network from a remote location???

Hovdebo: My understanding, from watching PowerfulUK’s video on YouTube, is that it allows you to use Live View from anywhere. Because the vehicle has its own satellite connection which shows via the Connectivity screen. That is how the OTA, over the air, software updates are delivered. That is the data subscription plan which comes with the vehicle for the first three years of ownership. This is what allows you to use the Land Rover Remote App to start the car remotely and lock and unlock it remotely. It shows your remaining fuel, range, and location and allows you to click a button and activate Flash and Beep. Well, at least this is my understanding from what I’ve read, unless I’m assuming too much. I will look deeper into this, but try it out and report back to us. So far you are the only one reporting on the OEM dash cam, so your input is valuable. Try leaving your Defender somewhere, just not in a garage to guarantee a strong signal, since I notice when I pull into my garage I get a message saying ‘Satellite Signal Lost, Searching for Satellite’. Then try opening the DashCam app and see if you can get a ‘Live View’ from a remote location. Would love to hear the results of your experiment.

Those functions all work over the cellular network - the vehicle has no satellite communications capability.

You’re right, my bad. I was getting the ’loss of satellite signal’ confused, as that message was referring to the Sirius signal being lost when I pulled into my garage. The vehicle is always connected to a cellular network via the mobile network connectivity, thereby enabling OTA software updates. That connection is what should/will allow one to access a Live View of the dash cam if I understand it’s operation properly. But unfortunately, this is only my assumption, I’m waiting to hear from someone with actual experience with this feature to substantiate these beliefs. If anyone out there has a better understanding, please weigh in on this subject to clear up any misconceptions I may have. I am holding off ordering the OEM dash cam until I can get all these questions cleared up.
