Default OEM Ladder Hinge Needed for R&D

Is anybody interested in buying a machined replacement hinge for thier OEM side ladder?

I have a great machinist who creates custom metal and carbon fiber parts for exotic sports cars and he is interested in possibly producing a part for us.

The only catch is that he needs a hinge to measure and use to design a new part. Does anybody have one they're willing to be away from for a while? (He'll pay for shipping. A DHL box will show up at your house . You just insert the hinge and ship it to him.)

After reading what happened to @GavinC , I want to replace my hinges with something better. His thread:

I don’t have a henge to offer, as I have been waiting to make a decision on a ladder, but I would be interested in buying a more substantial henge. The possibility of a beefier henge would certainly steer me towards an OEM ladder.

Sorry I can't spare my last remaining hinge @Trailmix

Anyone with a ladder can easily remove once hinge temporarily if they feel they can do without it.

The ladder stays put with one hinge and a zip tie. A replacement hinge in brass or something similar would be just the ticket.

Questionable load rating on my Zip-tie hinge

If those with broken hinges report the failure to the NHTSA, LR will quickly come up with a beefier replacement hinge and recall these weak ladders which are a safety hazard when used.

also, the machinist making replacement parts will now be liable for any failure of those parts.

Oh hush now. That's a defeatist mindset.

Land Rover owners are clever, problem-solvers who chew up adversity, both on and off the trail, and spit it out. I, for one, will not hide behind lawyers or fear of retribution. I will attack this head on.

Ya want a new hinge? Let me know! Cause I'm gonna make one. (I just need a sample.)

can you use your own hinge or have you not gotten the ladder yet? It takes just minutes to remove one.

Well done @tbrown

If this gets done @Trailmix , pencil me in for a new hinge or two.

How about a stone henge? That should be beefy!
