OEM Ladder Hinge Needed for R&D
hey man, good luck on your hinge project, you dont seem too easy to work with and seem worried about minutia , sounds like a lot of time explaining stuff to someone ,and i have a lot going on. if you want to do this you shpuld hire an engineer. they can probably get you what you need. im particular about who i work with and you seem like a handful..gifthorse mouth etc.
I am amazed and impressed with this group's determination to do the R&D that Land Rover should be doing about these poor quality OEM ladders. It appears that quite a few folks have had their ladders break after a certain time and amount of usage, and I wonder why no one is willing to report this serious safety defect of these OEM ladders to the NHTSA. If enough of you do that, these complaints will be taken seriously by Land Rover. I personally think that Land Rover should recall all these ladders and offer replacements with beefier hinges. But what do I know.... Kudos to all of you and your determination to fix Land Rover's weak ladders.

I simply asked a couple basic questions and you would provide details. Too bad.
With "997" I assumed he was just going to pull a door hinge off of a 2005-2012 911 and grind it down to size.
its really tiresome to explain things to people that are highly technical. its also really difficult to work with people who have never had a casting made in their lives or have never had anything made custom. i have been a fabricator in metal and glass for over 30 years and i have made many parts for people, ive made porsche 356 parts, rolls royce parts, boat parts, motorcycle parts etc... instead of taking it personally perhaps try to look at it from my perspective? instead of playing the victim. i offered to make a part (at a loss im sure) i explained the general process, and youre asking me questions over and over ive already answered. i can tell the kind of customer you are by this. no thanks. i have enough stuff going on that this isnt a priority, im not a school. im a fabrication shop and foundry. if you dont know what 997 is then maybe youre not qualified to weigh in on it? did that ever occur to you? lol! if youre not an engineer then you wouldnt even understand the answer to the question. move along and find another shop im not interested. it occurs to me that the machinst that turned you down was probably being nice and told you he was busy...
im the one that shut this down. i would not work with a person that communicates that way. ive been in business for 30 plus years dude ,i know a difficult customer when i hear one. its a good thing for me i didnt waste my time doing any free work to just get derided for trying to be helpful. thanks for that though no good deed goes unpunished.
