Just curious how did it break? I would think that you would be able to find a replacement salt. Start at the dealership first.

Man I JUST had this conversation yesterday with another L663 owner. We were talking about swapping out slats so we could move them more forwards or backwards (they are sized to fit the different widths - each slat is a different length unfortunately, so they only adjust so far). So if you are replacing that slat, you have to get that exact slat.

I don’t think short of buying a used rack and harvesting parts there is a way to source these. The used parts the LR dealers seem to have is the rubber strips.

Also, I was wondering when these Thule bars would break in that exact fashion that yours did... guess it is not impossible.

I had my maxtrax’s on the passenger side. Maybe I hit something but I don’t remember hitting anything. Maybe I over tightened it, I just don’t know. I was get the defender ready to go to Alaska this year going over all my stuff checking to make sure it was tight but before I got to this one I saw it was almost completely off. It didn’t happen to the rear one just the front one.

Here is a picture from 2024 in Moab. So you can see it loaded.

The rack is made by Thule and they have replacement parts. Here is one source for the slats:

Well, maybe, but these don’t include the ends and you’d have to cut them to size.

Looks like the end pieces on DefenderSISU’s track is still in good shape, but it would probably easier for you to spend a lot more money and buy a used or new one, than to take the time to repair what you have and look back at your work with pride.
