I have 2 sets of 20" wheels for my 2022 110 p400. Which should I put on?
* Silver with 255/60R Goodyear Wranglers
* Black (spray painted) with 275/55R BFG KO2s
I'm in Wisconsin, so leaning towards the KO2s for the snow, plus I kinda like the black look, even though its a bad home made spray paint job...
KO2s are notoriously bad in wet conditions. My buddy had them on his Wrangler, and when it was raining he would be sliding around bends, even when it was in 4WD. He recently switched to the new KO3 and he says that wet grip has drastically improved. The OEM Wrangler Adventures are much better in the wet, and I had no problems with them in the snow. However, they aren't the best off-road.
I live in the Denver area and have had the OEM Wranglers, KO2, and now the Wildpeak AT4W.
OEM Wranglers won’t stand up to sharp rocks (thin sidewalls) and they are criminally dangerous in snow and ice. I changed them out after 3 months.
KO2 were pretty great off road and good enough in winter. I put something like 60k miles on them without issue. Never a problem driving into the ski areas or around town. Never had them in wet conditions because it doesn’t much rain here. They absolutely are not as good as winter tires - but I found them good enough.
just put the Wildpeaks on and haven’t been in winter conditions yet. I have had them in the rain a bit on road trips and didn’t really notice anything - which should be good. The wildpeaks are an XL tire and the KO2 were “E” rated. For my use, I don’t really need the extra stiffness from the E rated tire. YMMV.
If it's that neutral, I'll just keep the wheel/tires currently installed. Was hoping for overwhelming support of one vs the other. But seems like a mixed response...

I've heard this a few times about ko2s being bad in the wet. I think I'll just keep the Wranglers and sell the ko2s. Thanks for the info.

I've heard about KO2s being bad in the wet. I'm in the PNW and we get a bit of rain up here. No worries with KO2s for me.
To me this is a choice between a highway tire that has been rebranded A/T (ie: Goodyear sidewalls of cheese, rubbish in the snow, Adventures) or a heavier, noisier, tougher, more useful and reliable A/T in KO2.
It's a no brainer if you plan to enjoy the Defender's potential.
