Just received my ladder and gear carrier (lightning fast delivery via DHL - couple days to Ohio!). No issues at all with clearing customs.
I'm awaiting my Vulkan Expedition Roof Rack (separate order), but that is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.
NOTE: if you order the gear carrier, your keys to open the box might be under some heavy tape inside the box, so be careful not to throw it away! I did receive a genuine LR badge inside the box too, and what appears to be all mounting hardware for both pieces too.

What else have you done to your Defender? I switched out my tires for 275/55R20 Nitto RidgeGrapplers - and it made quite the difference in appearance and changed how it rides. I also added the factory steps this week, and eventually want to black out the front and rear bumpers, and add some off road lighting options next…
My Defender is Eiger Grey BTW and the color grows on me more and more every day! With her new shoes. 🤣

What was the shipping cost like for the roof rack? I was quoted £460 to the east coast of the US. Still comes out cheaper than the factory roof rack in total, just wish shipping could be more reasonable.
I was quoted the same to North Carolina. I was about to pull the trigger on an all black expedition rack today from Vulcan and just called my LR dealer to cancel my factory order when lo and behold my ordered rack just showed up!!! Only took 6 weeks from order date.

Yes. Shipping was pretty insane, but it just took the price of the rack up to about what else you can get in the U.S. for an aftermarket expedition rack. So, that along with the Black Lunch Box and Black Ladder made it worth while to me as I would have paid Elbert close to the same price and not gotten exactly what I wanted if I purchased things here…
I've ordered from Vulkan and customer service is great but honestly their products are cheaply made. The carrier box hinge will corode. Ladder is the worse..... The top cover will not fit properly, the key hole will seize up, the black bolts and screws will corrode.

I ordered the expedition roof rack, carrier box and ladder from Vulkan back in December. I live in sunny San Diego, CA and noticed the poor quality only several months later.
They replaced the roof rack once for me due to poor quality of parts. They keep telling me that there is no fix for the ladder yet as LR design is poor... As if their ladders are OEM. No they're not! I have long email threads with them and although they keep telling me there's no fix yet, they keep selling the items to unsuspecting new customers.
The ladder is so bad that I am buying an OEM one next week

I just got my ladder and gear carrier today! Wow that was fast! Now I need my rack to show up and I’ll be all set.
Side Note: are you as nervous as I am about the drilling associated with the ladder and box mount? 😬

Wow, thanks for the info. Makes me wonder if the Vulcan roof rack is actually rated less than the original LR Expedition roof rack for carrying weight.

Wow, thanks for sharing. This makes me wonder whether the Vulkan roof rack actually has the same carrying capacity as the expedition roof rack.
