Default OTA upgrades – what’s the low hanging fruit? Post your ideas

What amazing features should Land Rover enable with an OTA update? Looking your way Insider!) Low hanging fruit! I’ll go first with my top 6 requests:

6) Let us Pop open tailgate with the unused remote key button (helpful for campers who sleep inside the defender and are tired of being locked in)

5) Allow HUD on/ off to be mapped to shortcut button on the steering wheel; Allow engine speed in HUD even when not in Sport

4) Add air suspension height control to incontrol app. Going to offroad height from outside the vehicle is a cool party trick!

3) Bring back seatbelt chime defeat mode for 22 and 23 models!

2) Allow Steering wheel and seat heaters/coolers to turn on with Remote Start.

1) Add tire pressures display option to interactive center screen/ incontrol tiles as a permanent display option (so useful offroad)

What are your ideas?

Allow memory of stop/start position so you don't have to press the button every time you start the engine.

Manual setting of PSI for the TPMS system so when you air down it is not indicating a fault and if you really do get a puncture you know.

YES TO THIS "Allow Steering wheel and seat heaters/coolers to turn on with Remote Start."

I would also add:

-- Turn the heated windshield on with Remote Start if below the threshold temp. No idea why this is not automatic, even when you have automatic heated windshield on in Pivi. Mine doesn't turn on when I remote start, it turns on when I get in the car 10 mins later. But that's when I want the windshield de-iced already.

-- When proximity cameras automatically turn on in parking, I'd rather have offroad view. Because my stone wall is close on either side of the car where I park it, and I -- every time I pull in -- change to offroad view when the proximity cameras activate . Because with offroad view I have a much better view of how close I am to the wall on the right side. Would be nice.

-- Manually add or change the height information for parking garages. (a check box to add "expedition rack") and a manual setting to add for wheels/tires/lift. It's just information being displayed, it's probably hackable with a CCF editing tool anyway.

-- Car wash mode (discussed here and in other brands of cars)

-- Camp mode (prevent battery drain when doors are open camping, etc)

-- Stop slamming the vehicle into park when you open the drivers door!

Give the option of setting the vehicle to default to eco mode rather than comfort mode. It's a pain to have to set it before every long-ish trip (and each time you restart the vehicle on that trip)

1 - Allow carplay options (map) flowing to the ID - when available by Apple.
2 - Update the software with decent lane centering technology. The whole bumping from one side to the other of the lane is annoying.
3 - All the others above.

I would love it if Carplay would send navigation info to the interactive driver's display. I have my ID set up with a center tachometer/speedometer and then the left is what media is playing and the right is navigation, but the right side only displays navigation from the car's unit. Would be fab if it showed apple maps or Waze instead.

The nav and CarPlay ideas are great! To add to those, I’d love a way to send my nav destination to the system using the Land Rover app or via SMS.

My Audi can do this and i use its nav more often because of the ease of address entry.

Agreed! My wife's 2018 Santa Fe does this.

Ok fellas:

1. Let us Pop open tailgate with the unused remote key button (helpful for campers who sleep inside the defender and are tired of being locked in)

There is a powerful Uk button that piggy backs on the rear tailgate latch wiring harness so you can add a 2nd interior button to open your tailgate from the inside of the hatch with 20 dollar used range rover button. Simon has it on his website for powerful UK. Google it.

Also I can add trunk pop on the key fob thru programming right now if you dont want to add the 2nd interior button. I have both and its convienient to use either option when camping.

Bring back seatbelt chime defeat mode for 22 and 23 models!

I can do this through programming now! You can turn off all seat belt chimes.

Add tire pressures display option to interactive center screen/ incontrol tiles as a permanent display option (so useful offroad)

"IF" any other JLR vehicle has this option. I may be able to add it, but you guys will have to hit the forums for other JLR vehicles and see if its an option. "IF" it is then it might be added. (ive never heard of it, but you never know.)

Allow memory of stop/start position so you don't have to press the button every time you start the engine.

This is programming I can already enable already available on the P300 4cyl engines through programming. P400 I might be able to disable it but not enable it again except through programming. Last user mode is available on JLR vehicles, but so far only works only on p300 vehicles.

-- Camp mode (prevent battery drain when doors are open camping, etc)

I found this and can program it! What the setting is that you can open the trunk and the interior lights wont turn on and you can enter the vehicle and exit the vehicle without triggering waking up the vehicle and the interior lights stay off when the trunk is open. Also there are interior light clock settings that I changed so the interior lights only immediately come on when the doors open and immediately go off when the 4 passenger doors close and you can eliminate the time delay of the interior lights staying on after the doors close, and when you walk up to the vehicle and disarm the car, the lights wont turn on until you actually open a door.
