Default P0507 CEL code

I have a 2020 Defender with about 27000 miles on it. It has thrown a CEL. I scanned it and it states "P0507 - Idle Air Control System RPM Higher Than Expected." I cleared the code and the next day it came back. I scheduled it for a dealership visit (earliest available was January 6th). I then cleared it again since it was still 2 weeks from my expected dealership visit.

I noticed Monday when I drove it that the RPM at idle when I parked was fluttering and sitting at around 1100-1200rpm. It was not hot outside and the AC was not on. I started driving again and then stopped at a red light and the CEL light came back on when I was stopped. My wife drove it the next day and the CEL turned itself off.

I have noticed a stumbling higher RPM before but the CEl has never turned on before.

Anyone else had this issue?

P0507 does not exist in the workshop manual and "idle air control" doesn't either.

What kind of reader are you using?

I took the car in today for what was supposed to be a software update to fix the issue. It now turns out it needs a new VCT solenoid. They said it will take 2-3 days to get the part.

Very interesting. So many solenoid types and purposes these days.

It seems the motor oil has many new purposes as compared to prior decades.

Enjoy !

I got the car back today. Attached is all the info to save me writing it all out. It was a PCV value issue and there is a TSB for it (SSM75609).

Faults codes found - B15C4-68 - P219F-84 - P0507-00

That there service tech is GOLD. You should go to that dealer and ask for that specific Service tech every time. a) That was one of the best write ups I've seen from a Service Tech and I've been in and out of the industry for decades. b) Out of curiosity, reading the earlier thread I went thru the workshop manual searching for the P0507 code for a Defender 2022 (not sure which was referred to in an earlier post) and it goes thru a list of diagnostic options and potential work. This service tech must have been going thru that list like a flight mechanic. No ad libbing, they were going by the numbers. c) well executed search for a TSB/warranty saved you dollars (likely under a warranty anyway) and all the other prices don't seem like you are making college payments for the Dealer's children. AND a courtesy wash. Go to that Dealer! And, specifically, that Tech.
