Default P400 engine noise/shudder

Hello
brand new user here, and new owner of Defender X my23 P400, so I apologise for my lack of knowledge but I will try try to explain the fault I have, because I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas or experienced anything similar.

Had the car for 1800km since new, and approximately once per hour of driving I will get an intermittent shuddering noise. Feels to me like there is loss of power, and feels a bit like the engine is wanting to stall. It always seems to occur under steady throttle, at low revs (eg1250-1500rpm). It will last for 5-10 seconds, and I can resolve it by momentarily lifting or increasing the throttle.

I took it into the service centre, that had the car for half-day, and found nothing wrong...

I have managed to capture it twice on video, once while driving, one while stationary in park. You might have to listen carefully in the video where I'm driving, its a low pitched hammering noise at the start of the video. In the stationary video, you can see the rev going up/down while holding a steady throttle, and you can hear the engine if you listen v carefully. Apologies for the bird song

Any ideas?

I have experienced this 2 times. Both happened within 500 ft of my house when starting, waiting for garage to close and then going. Light throttle, no more than 15 mph. My initial thought was “am I supposed to let it warm up?” But same as you, varying the throttle made it go away.

These two instances were with under 500 miles on the odometer. Hasn’t happened since. Have 2000 miles on to now.

if I recall it seemed like the transmission was shifting up or “searching” for the right gear and caused the engine to bog. Hope this helps.

Couple things come to mind:
my car makes that intermittent noise when turning right in addition to also a bangor clunk at the rear when/during changes from 1-2 or Reverse gears. I suspect my issue is related to the EDiff which many owners are now having replaced under warranty.
secondly, the idling is bizarre, theres a service bulletin related to irregular idling and poor drivability for the p400.
has you dealer looked into the latter and do you have a

I've had no shuddering like this on my P400 110X, sorry that I can't help.

Re: @Ericlockheed 's comment re: ediff replacements under warranty. Haven't heard of this. Do you know more information?

I just had this the other day. Only 2000 kms on my Defender when it happened. Haven't really looked into it further as it went away after I got moving on the highway.

update (sort of)

the dealer had it in at their service centre to supposedly drive around and see if they could replicate it and work out what is going on.
Well they had my car for 3 days and drove it a total of 1km (yes one km) and not surprisingly found nothing wrong. And in their desperation to make me happy they managed to somehow drive it into a pole causing front bumper/panel damage....

not a great start to ownership...

Wait so you don’t only have that when the car is cold and then the first 5 km? I only have it when cold started. Not anymore once the car is warmed up

I've actually seen the idle hunt around like that while stationary, but the engine was fully warmed up, had been driven at high speeds for several hours, it was 100F outside, and the air conditioner was running. You couldn't really hear the idle changing, but you could see it on the display. That was a while ago and I really haven't had any issues, nor has it happened again. I assumed it was just a combination of the very high heat plus the air conditioning.

Might be time to try another dealership if there is one somewhat convenient - this one definitely sound terrible. Sorry about the troubles, and them damaging your Defender!
