Default Parking sensor problem on my 2020 ?

I noticed this weekend that my front parking sensors stopped beeping (under any conditions), they usually go crazy when pulling into my narrow driveway. The silence was somewhat nice, actually. I went into Pivi, and the "automatic parking sensors" toggle was turned off. Which is odd, because I certainly hadn't turned it off. So I flipped it back on. It turned right back off at the next restart. But no beeping even when I turned it on. It must be turning itself off, for some reason.

Then, today I've noticed that I have a red box I have not seen before around the left camera area on the Pivi screen. However, today the toggle seems to be "staying on".

Interestingly, the red box is not on the back of the car, and the rear parking sensors still work and beep properly. I tried backing into my trash cans, the rear sensors do work. Re: the red box, I found this in the manual: PARKING AID SYSTEM FAULT: When the NFSM identifies a fault, a red border displays on the 360º vehicle plan view and the NFSM stores a Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) (DTC).

I shall pull the codes this evening on my Gaptool...

This happened to a friend of mine on his brand new RRS PHEV. Turns out the fault was a bad parking sensor in the rear bumper. I’d still scan for codes regardless, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see if it’s just one faulty sensor. I recall you saying your warranty is also up this month. Do you still have some warranty remaining? Best of luck!

The exact same thing is happening with my 2020. I did find a small dent in a sensor in the front. I wonder how tough they are to replace?

To answer your question -- They're not that tricky to replace (although I think the bumper needs to be off -- I've removed them but only when the bumper was off the car -- this when I was installing my bull bar and winch a couple of years ago). They pop into little snap fit holders -- you just pry the tabs apart, and they pull backwards, then you unclip the wiring harness.

I did check mine. No codes on the Gaptool (pending or confirmed).

I think I figured out what is wrong with mine.
-- The first time it did this, it had rained for like 2 straight weeks.
-- It has now been dry for about 4 straight days -- no errors.
-- Today I ran the car through a touchless (high pressure jet) wash -- immediately got an error and the red box again. So, I think water is getting into one of the front sensors. Now just need to figure out which one...

Admittedly I haven't actually gone and looked up close at them to examine the sensors, maybe a rock also hit one, a chip or something.

@nashvegas

I have the identical issue on mine. I've checked the fuse. It was sound. sensors are all clean. I'm going to see if disconnecting the wiring loom (behind driver front wheel liner) and reconnecting it will help. If not I'll need to go replacing sensor(s).

This all kicked off when I updated software. Possibly coincidence.

Disconnect the wiring harness, sprayed some silicone and reattached. No change

Checked the 6 sensors in the front bumper. (Audible clicking from each one confirms a normal function).

All hardware seems to be normal.

I've had this issue from time to time - I think it's salt crystals or sand grains that get stuck in the sensors. Almost always goes away after a wash and a restart. I was quite worried the first time it happened, but the issue has solved itself multiple times now.

Just got my '24 back from the body shop (wife decided the left rear bumper/taillight should meet a pole) and the only sensors that work are the front. Checked cleanliness, re-set Pivi, and ran all updates. Guess I will be going back to the body shop. It's interesting that if either set of sensors has a fault it de-activates the "side" detection. The sensors still worked after the impact so I am assuming it was an issue with re-installation.

I had this same issue on my 2024. Only realized when I tried to use wade sensing offroad and got an "unavailable" message. Took it into service and one front parking sensor was faulty/replaced.

I had a listen to my sensors and per @sarek each was clicking away. I think one was clicking less obviously than the others. I will have to have another listen. A hardware fix is so much simpler than some software related annoyance.

Powerful's issue seemed related to them not attaching the wiring loom correctly during bumper removal. I tried that.
