Default PFF cost estimate?

What is a reasonable price to pay for matte PFF for a 2025 Defender 130 X-Dynamic? Color is Carpathian grey, anyone have experience with matte PFF on that color?

Thanks in advance! This forum is great, just need to stay away from the What Did you do to Your Defender Today thread... costing me too much money.

I paid $5,500 for full PPF on my 110 (not 130) — not matte, but same process. That’s about the going rate in the PNW at a top-tier shop. I hear stories of 8-10K PPF jobs in LA. That scares me. I also feel like that is horrendously overpriced. They used pre-cut STEK film (their highest-end, self-healing material), but didn’t do exotic-style full corner wraps (no trim removal or cutting film on the car). I wanted it for off-road protection, not show.

Price didn’t include the roof or rear door exterior, but did include double layers on the gloss black lower doors, lower front bumper, front grille, and inside the rear cargo door (to protect from dogs).

FYI: Matte film doesn’t self-heal as well as gloss. My buddy got matte and now wishes he’d gone with gloss. Just an FYI. He didn’t know that when he chose matte over gloss. His trail pinstripes are far worse than mine and we do the same trails all the time.

One of those $10K LA stories here.

However they did a fair amount; and it was not pre-cut.

That included:
All Pangea Green in Matt ppf
All Piano Blacks in clear ppf
Tinted windshield
Tinted front driver / passenger windows
Painted Handles and front grey trim black
ceramic coating on all plastics not in ppf

I loved their detail, and end result and I love the full Matt look on Pangea Green. And the tinting on the windows makes a huge difference here in SoCal. Cuts out all the heat.

I have matte PPF from the factory over Carpathian Grey. The black trim, hood, tailgate, roof, etc has gloss PPF over it. The gloss PPF over black paint and trim cost me $5k from Protective Film Solutions in Santa Ana in July 2024.

Well not LA, but in the same range. Lumar matte PPF on all non black (Charente grey) ceramic coating on all including PPF, paint, wheels , trim, and windows. Custom job on new OCTA. Double the price of LR (but including full ceramic coating on everything). I don’t have a problem with thr LR work on a 80:000- 100,000 vehicle, but that’s not what I paid for the OCTA!

That looks awesome!

May be out of my budget though… need rock sliders, roof rack, ladder, and new wheels (not 22”) first.

I just blindly trust @nashvegas in all things Defender (usually...) so I trust he's right. I just don't understand it. Why does matte not self heal as well as gloss? Love to have your insights on this. I would have guessed it would have been the other way around. Matte being more forgiving than gloss. Obviously it's a different material but I would have thought it was only different asthetically, not functionally. No need to geek out too much, I'm just casually inquiring.

As long as I'm hijacking someone else's thread! I have another, maybe in line, question. If this is the range / costs of PPF, is it similar if you want to do a color wrap? What about a wrap to change the color to your favorite hue of British Racing green (or whatever)? Anyone have current results? I just LOVED the thread of the owner who took off almost everything and had a real nice paint change done. I just don't have that patience, dedication or appetite. If I really was motivated I'd go all in. Since this isn't my current life, I'm thinking of just a wrap and would appreciate a similar set of experiences. Thanks!

I am currently changing my Godwana Stone 110 to something similar to a Grassmere Green with a beige roof. Will share picture when its done.
