Can you link whatever tape you end up buying that solves the issue?

Yes, I'm debating whether to test out putting my own felt tape or to try and buy the parts that @Gator42 talked about in the thread above. I found them for sale on myroverparts.com:

Left = https://www.myroverparts.com/oem-par...lding-lr142525
Right = https://www.myroverparts.com/oem-par...IFJlc3VsdHM%3D

I will probably try out the felt tape first. I don't really want to deal with buying unfinished pieces, seeing if they will work, and then having to get them painted to my car's finish. We'll see. I will keep you posted with my findings.

I'm hoping Land Rover will come out with a recall in the mail and fix this issue we are all having. It's frustrating for all of us.

Thanks for sharing that.

I believe there already is some sort of dealership notice about this. I recall someone posting it at some point over the past year or so.

I took my Defender to the one I bought mine from two weeks ago for a couple of issues (software updates, speakers not working, and the A-Pillar noise). They fixed the software updates and the speakers, but they had no idea about the A-Pillar noise I was talking about. I told them to have the technician give me a call so I can share the specific details and this forum, but they never got back to me. When I picked up the car the invoice stated that they took the car for a drive on the freeway but did not hear the noise. In summary, the issue wasn't fixed. Leads me to believe only a handful of dealers are aware of this issue. I'm going to reach out to other dealers and see if I can find one that knows of the issue.

I cut small strips/squares from a roll of adhesive Neoprene I had in my garage (the type they use to seal hard shells over pickup truck beds) instead of the 1 mm anti-squeak tape my dealer used - which didn't work at all and I removed. I am not sure about the thickness of that roll, but it is definitely more than 1 mm, probably more like 3 or even 4 mm thick. I applied it quite liberally over all the ribs shown in the above tech bulletin, and also above the ribs found in the middle of the base carrier (next to those "keyhole" openings you see in the above drawing - there are ribs there as well), not sure if those were necessary or not, but the bottom line is that the thicker tape worked. It took quite a bit of pressure to get the molding to re-engage over the carrier - surely because of the thickness of the Neoprene I used - but the noise completely disappeared after that and it's been months now since the fix.

Good luck with fixing this. My 2020 Defender P400 does this.

4 visits and “we fixed it” from Jaguar Land Rover West Houston and it is most certainly not fixed.

The flapping/crackling noise comes from the top-right area of the windscreen at freeway speed.

At lower speeds, the doors make a body flex noise.

At certain speeds, I hear all of the above and it is absolutely maddening.

I am finding that my dealer is completely worthless and disinterested in fixing it. Can Land Rover do something?

Its such a joy when we go to the same dealership (JLR West Houston) with the same exact symptoms and they act like they have never heard of the issue before.

I am taking the issue to Land Rover. After 4 trips to JLR West Houston and they keep saying it is fixed, when they could drive it about 300 feet from the service bay and see that it is not, I am not going back.

For anyone who uses JLR West Houston, I highly suggest using the route tracking via the InControl website or app. The first time my Defender was in to their service department, a tech took it to McDonald's nearby for breakfast. W/hen I showed the issue to my sales guy and the service department, I got a lot of mumbled comments and a half-assed apology. Apparently, taking customer vehicles out for meals is generally okay at this dealership.

I would avoid this place like a plague. Oh, if you are practicing any Covid protocols, you may also want to avoid this dealership. There is ONE guy working there who wears a mask. No one else does and I was told many of them are not vaccinated. No. Thank. You.
