They just said foam padding. I’ll see if I can find out more.

That would be good to know as it seems a simple fix. Unfortunately sometimes the 'technicians' in the service department aren't great at dealing with these issues. If we can do it ourselves one less thing they can mess up...

Quick update - no fix from my dealer yet. Apparently all parts are backordered - 1st date was August now saying mid September. Pretty annoying.

I filed a report with the NHTSA as I thought this was dangerous and I am frustrated with not getting anyone's attention at LR locally or abroad. I got a call from a representative of the NHTSA about the pieces flying off when driving. They asked if I knew of any other instances; I told them I am not aware that most issues are the popping sounds coming from the pillars. If there are others with the pieces coming off please ping me.

Thx.

There are at least two or three people on the "All New Defender Owner's Group" on Facebook that have had the A pillar trim either come completely off, or at least come loose. It does not appear to be a super widespread issue, but is not isolated either.

My crackling is definitely getting louder and starts at lower speeds. Have about 1100 miles on it. No update or eta for the replacement, but my rep at the retailer said to bring it in to make sure the fitting is tight.

Same problem here in the UK (so driver side) - mine going in for it to be fixed, and other issues. Third time back to the dealer for tech fixes in 4 weeks

I bought some adhesive backed felt off Amazon and installed it per this diagram and description. Hasn’t completely fixed the issue but it’s much much better. Easy to do and cheap.

Learning a little something every day, it seems. I did not know anti-squeak tape existed. Interesting video:

#:~:text=durable%20UHMW%20(ultra%2Dhigh%20molecular,with%20total%20thickness%20of%207mil.

Offered on Amazon.................. durable UHMW (ultra-high molecular weight) polyethylene tape provides smooth, friction-free movement on metal and plastic materials which helps to reduce wear and friction! ... The Anti-Squeak Tape is transparent with total thickness of 7mil.

I got my A-Pillar rattle fixed this week. Land Rover is aware and the fix is called "Service Action N472". Here is a link with a lot of the details and parts they use to fix it:
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...79546-0001.pdf

And here is what the technician typed up on the service invoice: "order left bottom panel, must be painted; windshield molding - Modification - Both sides; new windshield bold cover - one side - left - paint required; drive in/drive out". So far I am not hearing any rattles so it seemed to do the trick.

I mainly went to get an oil change but figured while it was there that I could get this fix applied. They actually had the vehicle for 3 days, but I don't think they started the job until the end of the second day and/or they had to get parts. I also had them look to see if there were any updates with the satellite radio having to be reset once or twice a week. He noted that SOTA update done on 10/20/2020 and he did a battery hard reset. He also said no updates available on Pathfinder (not sure what that is). I'll let the forum know if there is any improvement w/ the radio.
