We also could not even select a different media (XM, FM, AM). Volume control also would not work. These would be fixed when holding power down on the Pivi Pro until it reset. If the connection from our phones were reset (turning car off and on or disconnecting wireless) it would happen again. When turning the car off, we would get prompted to update to 4.4. The last time the vehicle was updated was September 2025.

We did the 4.4 install when we got the vehicle home and we have not had any audio problems since.

I noticed after the fact that there was a bug fix in the change notes that sounds like it addressed this issue: "Audio improvements which resolve loss of audio and audio selection".

I would say updating to 4.4 was worth it for us.
I have a 2023 110 and I'm on 4.4 and had the same audio select issue you experienced a week ago... after the 4.4 install. The only issue I have with my Defender is the random audio issues. It might be Spotify completely disappearing only to pop up a day or two later, or Spotify being greyed out and not selectable, only to be available the next time I start the vehicle. Last week was a complete "nope, you will drive to work in silence today" with no ability to select anything and I was even blocked from audio through carplay.

I only caution that it may seem like all is well today... based on 3ish years of experience and many Pivi updates... it's probably not.

Interestingly - someone in another country (Uruguay) just posted on Reddit that their Pivi Pro also downgraded - in their case, from 4.1 to 4.0.1 - https://www.reddit.com/r/NewDefender...os_downgraded/

I am really wondering if this is because of the DC to DC converter issue.

Hasn’t happened to me but I’m sure I read of something similar, downgrade version, but it was only the version/release notes that were incorrect. Did you see features revert back to 4.0.0 or have you checked to see if new features like the GenAI are still present in the menus? I’ll also see if I can find the forum post I remember.

My Pivi updates have finally arrived for my 2024 Carpathian V8.

After being on 4.2 for 14+ months, 4.3 rolled in, then about 4 days later 4.4.1 rolled in.

I'm currently on 4.4.1 and it has been working well for me, including a much more stable Apple CarPlay experience.

I have kinda same experience. 4.2 for a full year without any update. But past 4 weeks, I received an update every week or so. Now I’m at 4.40 as of a couple of days ago. It looks like LR finally make more efficient update systems.

Overall, 4.3 was what I really needed with brighter backup camera on the screen. After that, I didn’t really notice much difference.

Is it weird that the octa is only now using 4.4.0 ? While others are seeing 4.4.1 ?

My 2025 OCTA says it is up to date with 4.3.4 installed last January.

I wonder how the heck they are deciding which ones get which update and when ! I'd have expected maybe different versions for each engine variation but not model year like yours and mine.

I have continuously had that very same issue with Car Play, dealer even did a forced reboot after all the other tricks/hacks didn't work. It still does it at least 50% of the time- either it recognizes Car Play, doesn't recognize, or recognizes and then drops later. Happens with either wireless mode or wired in to the USB charging port. Tech said it was my phone's setting but no way, checked everything and it's as it should be.

If anyone on the forum has a solution, or there's another thread that I missed (apologies in advance) please send it my way!
