Default Plug in

Hello everyone, I ordered a Defender 110, 2.0 404 Hybrid PlugIn and I would like to know if I can use the Porsche wall box that I currently use with a Panamera hybrid plugin. Thanks for the attention.

I would check the charging specs for each vehicle, but if the plug fits the vehicle I do not see why it should not work. Ask your dealer as well. Let us know what you find out.

Of course you can ... the system regulates itself

What is NOT correct (here in Italy) is your wall box connected in mode 2 and not in mode 3 !!!

Of course it works but a wall box must be connected directly to the circuit breaker and not with a plug as in the photo

That charger is single or split phase only. It's not compatible with 3 phase.

@basel is correct. It should not be installed with a plug. Some units can as long as the electrical code where they are installed allows it but that Porsche unit never can. I've been a licensed electrical contractor for over 20 years.

The gauge and length of the wiring is critical to prevent overheating and fire under high current. That cord may or may not be adequate depending on how much current the unit is set to draw (this is programmable by the installer up to 80 amps).

Additionally, the plug and socket connection can be inadequate for the current (again, depends on settings). Even a socket designed for a washing machine or oven at 240 volts may not be designed for the high current drawn by a level 2 charger. In that case, the socket will break down over time or may melt. It might work for a while but, if it is pushed beyond it's rating, there may be eventual failure of the socket with the potential for fire.
