I installed my factory skid-late using Simon's (PowerfulUK) unofficial method. Took me less than 2 hours and helps with the cost.

Skid plate is OEM. I just swapped out my old beaten up one for an almost new one I got on eBay from a breaker.

@GavinC - I randomly find myself up in Leavenworth this week (not far from Gallagher head lake to Mt Hawkins trail (?)). Perhaps I'll grab a Labrador and head up there on Sat as well?

I didn't bring my bags w/ recovery gear, traction boards, shovel etc but I do have the Defender w/ winch with me -- watching video it looks easy as pie so probably fine without recovery gear.

Is this it?

correct destination but it only shows the latter part of the trail. Take the Salmon La Sac Road. Cle Elum Valley and hang a right at the Jeep Trail 301. It parallels the USFs road before crossing it That rejoins the USFS road about half way and then you take the left fork.

i’ll be there this event and probably will break camp in the morning. It’s a very fun trail. Hawkins Mountain trail is supposed to be very steep but not too rocky.

will probably leave at 11 ish tomorrow.

I’ll keep my eye out for you.

Take the right off Salmon La Sac road marked with the little arrow. That’s the start of the Jeep trail.

I got a wave from a nicely build Disco on my way home.

Number of Roo-bar winch clad @nashvegas Defender sightings: 0

Was chatting to a nice bloke clled Yuri when I was airing up. He was airing down his lifted and built V8 Sequoia. He told me he was a recovering D1 owner and was surprised to see a Defender on the trails.

Next trip probably will be Goat Peak and Cabin Creek combo.

Man I wish I'd made it. Dog problems blew up the day yesterday.. Ended up at the vet in Leavenworth instead. What fun.

Note for the dog owners. Kong toys = choking hazards.

But ate trail looks amazing and I'll come back up and do it next time in the area.

Gavin I’d love to join but will be out of state next weekend. Next time!

No worries.

Eyeing a snowy run over Stampede pass some weekend in November/December. Need some snow to make it interesting but no so much as to make it too interesting.

Explored a short trail today that was a bit gnarly. It's a cross country ski trail in about 8 weeks so the clock is ticking.
