Default Prevent Android Auto from auto launching

I got a new phone and now can't stop android auto from starting every time I get in the car.

With my previous phone I had it set up where I could launch android auto manually, it didn't start automatically. I could of sworn there was a setting in Pivi to not auto launch but I don't see it.

Yes there is! If you go into the settings and phone settings there should be an android auto setting where you can toggle auto start. I have mine not set to auto open also.

I don't see anything related to Android Auto in Pivi under (Settings > Apps > Phone)

In the section (Settings > Connectivity > Smart Devices > My Phone) there is an Auto-Connect option, but it's related to Bluetooth. Disabling it prevents my phone from connecting altogether.

Could you be more specific where the setting is? I had it working with my old device so this is puzzling.

Yeah, that auto-launch can definitely get annoying — especially when you’re used to having the option to start Android Auto only when you want it. Some cars bury the setting under “Connectivity” or “Projection” menus, but depending on the Pivi version it may have been removed or relocated. Honestly, it highlights how much better the experience could be if the software was designed with more user control in mind. Data-driven decisions matter here too, since developers build dashboards and analytics tools that turn raw data into actionable insights, helping you make smarter business decisions about what users actually need. If car software teams tapped into this mindset, they’d make it easier to adjust defaults. For anyone exploring better user experiences or even building tools around connected devices, you might want to Front-end web developers at Lemon.io who understand how to balance functionality with user choice.

Its funny, because in my other vehicle, the head unit doesn't offer the option of auto-starting AA which I find incredibly annoying. Whereas in the Defender, my phone always connects to Pivi and launches AA before my wife's iPhone (which really, REALLY makes her mad).

Apps -> Android Auto -> Configure in Android Auto -> Start Android Auto automatically. You can also set it to not launch if your phone is locked.
