The bracket would absolutely be covered under warranty and I will bring it up with the dealership where I bought the rack from. Given the availability of appointments at my dealership, having the installer do the spot welding was the quickest way to fix it, and it was an easy fix.

Not sure if it matters, but I went back and re-torqued all of the bolts for the expedition rack before installing my iKamper. I installed my rack as well, which wasn’t difficult at all other than the size, so it took all of 10 minutes or so to go back and re-torque everything. The installation instructions call for you to do it after a certain mileage as well, not sure how many people actually have it done but it could be something for people to double check.

Yes! I will definitely be checking and re-torquing all the bolts.

Did you all notice a decrease in gas mileage after you added the rack, ladder, and box?

I did notice a slight drop in gas mileage-about 1 mpg. However, the mileage per gallon went up after installing the fairing, not to mention the wind noise reduction.

my mileage has dropped through the floor lately, and it seems to coincide with the wind noise I get from the rack. It’s so bad, I am honestly considering just getting rid of the rack as a whole…

Try installing the Colorado Wind Fairing. You will be impressed by how well it works.

I'm also a fan of the Colorado Fairing Company. There will still be wind noise, but the fairing makes a huge difference.
