If I were starting over, I would solder instead of using wire nuts, but it was expedient. I shoved at least a foot of wire under the camera housing in case the suction cups let loose, and zip tied to the mirror housing innards to prevent the wires from being pulled out. HTH

HI!
There are 4 sizes for the "Taps" connectors on the MirrorTap: .40/.45/.60/.75. Can someone please indicate which is the CORRECT SIZE?
Thanks!

I would use the ones that fit the best inside the connector. Pretty sure I used the .40 or .45 my picture is above in this thread if you want to take a look

Thanks! I didn't realize it was just a plug-n-try approach. Appreciate the info! Items are on order...

Shoot! Using the green/brown wire from pic above (+) I note that it’s in the lower right port. However—MY green/brown wire (without the black dots) is 2nd from the right (and the green/brown WITH black dots is in lower right port). I don’t have a Voltmeter and am wondering: is the key being the green/brown wire, or the location? What’s with the dots?! Thanks-this is only my 2nd “electrical” project ever—so, I’m learning. I have auto-dimming mirror without ClearView (or whatever it’s called).

Afraid to break the thing. Wife’s new care a week old…
How did you get the shroud/cover in front of the mirror to open up? It likes maybe it pulled away straight to the side?

there is a black wire and two green brown wires in the mirror connector. But one of the green brown wires has black spots all over it. Could these both be power? See pictures. Any feedback here would be great. I don’t have a volt meter.

Just did a mirror tap in a new pickup for my V2 and am finally getting around to doing the same to my wife's 110 V8. Thought I'd bump this thread if anyone is looking at how to pop off the mirror cover etc. Took 5 minutes in the truck so hopefully not much different in the Defender. Luckily my tap kit came with 3 of them...

I’m interested in doing this. Old thread, I know. How tough is it to get that shroud off the mirror? Haven’t seen a video of it. My Defender is brand new, don’t want to break the trim.

On mine it was very simple. A gentle pull on both halves and it just popped apart.

Do you pull straight to the sides? I’ll try this tonight when I get home from work.
