Default Rear Bumper Protection

Hello All, new Defender owner here!

I searched and saw a few people running the HSW Extended bumper cover, I also see there is an OEM version that doesn't cover as much. Any opinions on either? Also on the HSX (powerfuluk) is comes in satin or unpainted, looking for opinions on what seems to match the rest of the car.

thanks everyone and any advice appreciated!

I have the OEM chequer plate bumper protector. Got it from Powerful UK a couple months after I took delivery of my Defender. It has been on for nearly four years and it has held up incredibly well. 100% recommend it!

Second vote for the PowerfulUK version that @CincyRovers listed above. Mine's been going on 3 years of abusive neglect and still doing well.

I've got the same cover that CincyRovers has (I think) - I put it on after I saw my wife drag a carry-on across the top of the bumper (she has entirely no concept whatsoever of the term "mechanical sympathy") and put a giant scratch in the top of the plastic bumper. She's also already run over a snow stake at the corner of the driveway and scratched up the plastic front bumper. *sigh*

The cover doesn't protect as much of the top of the bumper as I would have liked, but it will help. I would have preferred a cover that completely covered the top surface of that silver plastic bumper. Oh well.

This is what I have. This picture is from the day I installed it almost four years ago, and it has held up incredibly well to the elements and abuse. I drove the Porsche today, but I can upload a picture of what it looks like now later tonight after I get home from the office.

Yep thats the one I got. I'm not disputing the resilience of the cover itself, I just wish it covered *all* of that silver on top and maybe wrapped over the edge a little bit.

yeah, that's why I'm sort of leaning towards either of these 2.

thanks everyone for their help and feedback, now I just need to decide matte or gloss.

I'd suggest if you have an X, X-Dynamic or a V8, go for the gloss one form Hunter's Prestige. It will match the gloss black trim on the bottom of the car. If you have the satin black plastic trim i.e. not an X, X-Dynamic or V8 model, go for the one that I have. Just my opinion, but you can't go wrong.

@H1Tad - As a friend told me years ago while off-roading: you only care until the first ding...

Doah! My bad. I HAD one of those. But then later replaced it with one of these for that same reason....Link

Uh oh! This picture reminds me that I both need to wash the beast and switch back the tow ball for the recovery point. Also reminds me that as much as I love that Lucky8 ladder, I miss the aftermarket backup light. Hey, wait...I added some supplements...
