Default Rear Diff Clunk after Oil Change

Hi all, had my rear diff oil changed by the dealer at 60k miles. Now, when pulling away from a stop, I’ll occasionally get a thud/clunk from the rear. Is this a cause for concern?

thanks. Wonder if the dealer would double flush without additional charge since the problem is a result of their service. I guess I have no way to prove this though. Honestly it doesn’t really bother me, I just want to make sure it won’t screw something up

are you sure the clunk is from your rear diff?
clunk is usually caused by two hard parts hitting each other. it worth closer check of its origin.

it’s not a clunk, more of a thud. Should’ve been more clear in OP

clunk or thud, it must be caused by the relative movement between some parts.

It was not there before, that is good.
Now you hear it (!) that is usually not good.

It worth checking, just for the pace of mind or maybe you can catch some thing before it become worse.

This is becoming a bit more common on the factory locking differentials. The thumping starts mildly and then gets worse. It is possible the incorrect fluid was used, but the likelihood is that the clutches have worn inside the unit. Changing the fluid 2x seems to alleviate the symptom temporarily, however, replacement is the final fix.

clutch wear totally makes sense. What doesn’t make any sense is that this issue appeared right after the dealer changed the diff oil. It was totally quiet before.
