So after my sound deadening of the front doors and replacing the speakers and tweeters, now it is time for the rear speakers.
I did know the speaker size is the same as front 6'5", I choose an coaxial 2ohm speaker ( Blam Signature 165.80c )
Sidepanel removed, speaker out. Oh.. we have a problem. The speaker is mounted in a bracket which is direct mounted on/to the inside panel.
What was Landrover thinking, this cabinet is leaking at 3 sides, impossible to build up any pressure / Bass .
My second problem with the new speakers was the depth, not sufficent.
But what is that Aluminium triangle there ?
Behind that aluminium butyl deadening material is a great space, So with some measuring I figured out to take away some of the material.
( Very easy to drill, soft aluminium, easy to finish also)
Next step was the sound deadening of the new discovered cabinet , at least there was more room to reach al the corners.
At the end of this cabinet, on top of the inner wheelwell I did put isolation and foam to close it up.
I did not have the right speakerrings, so decided to use them from the old speakers, all the cheap **** removed and finished the inside smooth round ,
sound dampening applied inside and outside, I could connect the pins inside to the new speaker. So no cutting in the original wireloom.
First testing, wow there is serieus Bass now, covered up some holes which where leaking air and some more finetuning beside the ring.
Sidepanel back, despite the new speakers are 5mm higher I could put it all back, very tight, as result no resolution from the speakergrill anymore.
So, a lot of work and research, worth the effort.. that's up to you. For me it is
Started today with the other side, this will go way faster I suppose.
If somebody could scan this bracket into 3d and modify it to close all the open spaces , print it in 3d , I would buy it.

@Defendit.. - Love it!! There's no way on earth I would do that. I don't have the ears for it, so don't think I could appreciate it well enough. But I love reading/seeing the detail, the precision and the passion. Well done. It looks cool. And I only wish I wasn't such a rube that I could enjoy the upgrade myself!
When you removed the rear panels for the 90, did you need to take the seat out completely ?
anything else tricky about removing panels?
I'am not sure about that in or how much you have to disassemble of the rear seat construction. You need some space to release the panels,
click them out & move upwards.
Anyway, I've done this mod, very time consuming , or expensive when done by a Car Hifi shop. 10 hours+
The more I get into my modifications of the 90, the more I understand ( basicly they designed the 110, let's make a 2 door for minimal costs, several design flaws will appear, and who gives a **** it looks good )
Did you run new speaker wiring to the woofers? I replaced the tweeters in my 110 since they have a "normal" positive and negative wire running to them. However, when I tried replacing the woofers, the new Focals sounded worse than the OEM woofers. I figured out that both black wires running to the woofer are positive when I tested them for power.

We don't do that over here, but fairly common (ground to frame) in Britain & France, some others. I expect them here Tuesday or Wednesday... Shipped from Germany.

Strange, when I replaced my front door speakers I had accidental switched the black wires on 1 door. That speaker sounded horrible then.
Reversed the wires and all perfect.
In the schedule you can see clearly every speaker in the Defender has 1 positive pole and 1 negative pole
