Reference on Defender with coil suspension ride
Hi ,
Am about to finalize the config and specs on my Def 90. There are two questions that in my head, that i cannot find the exact reference. Those are :
1. If i choose the coil suspension over air suspension option (due to future maintenance and current options charges) , will it really compensate on the ride feel? What is the plus minus on this? Fyi, mostly i wont do any offroad with this vehicle ... I tried to find references/review regarding this question , but the answer is not very comprehensive .
2. Regarding the Electronic Active Differential with torque vectoring option, will it play significant role on daily driving basis mostly on suburb, highway.
Many thanks before . hope to get insights regarding this.

l've got the coil springs on my 90 Commercial and the ride is fine, really good.
l've driven the air spring version and the ride is softer, but l found it a bit too soft....it feels more detached somehow.
The coil spring suspension got better on mine after l had done a few hundred miles (from new)
Off road mine seems fine, although it was only light off road.
With the coil springs you might need side steps, as it's quite a climb up to get in. It depends how tall you are. The further forward the seat is, the harder it is to climb in.

Depends. Do you consider Death Proof an instructional driving video?
On the highway l would say no, it won't. Possibly if you are taking the vehicle to the limits of its capabilities there might be a benefit, but it's got traction control, stability control etc as standard so l doubt you'll find it in any way lacking without the active rear differential

Wow, I got a wonky error message with that link on multiple browsers. Can you send the search terms for it, @_Allegedly ? I now imagine I'm on a watch list based on your other video viewing..... /s

It's this at 4 minutes
The ride in my 2022 Defender 110 is smooth and reliable with the coil spring suspension, and I don’t have to worry about a failure of any of the components of the air suspension which we have seen here numerous times previously. Remember one instance where an off-roader had the air line “pop” off, asking forr an unpleasant situation. I’m confident about my suspension, not so much about the air. And for the driving you expect to do, the e-diff would be wasted money. This Defender is extremely capable as is, adding all the bells and whistles may pump up some chests, but deflate the wallet needlessly.

The electronic rear differential with torque vectoring by braking improves on road performance (traction and stability) as well especially at high speed cornering. Hence, many high performance sports vehicles are equipped with torque vectoring.
