Default Removing mud flaps and snorkel

Hi,

Just bought a beautiful Defender withe the Explorer pack. I am not a big fan of the mud flaps, and will never have use for the raised air intake.

Mus flaps: Is a removal only screws? Will the screws be used after the removal? Do I need spare parts after removal?

Snorkel: I guess it is easy to remove, nut do I need to order a normal air intake grill to mount where the opening will be?

THANKS!

/c

I can't speak on the mud flaps, but the snorkel you will need the driver's side fender grate as well as the driver's side A Pillar cover. As the one on it now has a hole in it in order to mount the snorkel. But I haven't taken off those parts, you may need more than that. Check with your parts department to be sure.

You will have 4 holes in the bottom trim in each corner. It's a PITA to install, so it's going to be too to remove. I'll keep it.

not sure about the removal process, but the installation involves the removal of bumper, drilling of various parts of the car and the removal of trimings and etc etc.

you don't need to remove the rear bumper. the front you do have to remove the lower trim and will pop off some clips. be ready to purchase these clips. other than that, it is an easy install.

Navigated here trying to find a tutorial for what I naturally assumed would be about a 15-30 minute procedure… on literally every single other off road vehicle ever produced by anyone ever.

I’m sorry… but are the engineers at JLR just f__king slow or something? Is there some serious mental deficiencies over there we should be aware of?

Major surgery to install or remove mudflaps? Bumpers off? Seriously?

I love my Defender. Somehow, a group of engineers with obviously no off road experience at all managed to design a vehicle that is, on the whole, a great truck. Call it luck, make the argument that math trumps learned know-how, whatever.

But now that design team needs to step aside and let some other engineers, who are cognizant of the basic requirements for an off road vehicle, take over for the refresh (which I imagine will happen around 2025). Go over the design and fix all the staggeringly ignorant mistakes like this one.

Okay, okay. Rant over.
