I ordered a replica Stainless Steel Rear Bumper Scuff Plate on eBay a few weeks ago. I believe it is supposed to resemble VPLEP0447, although I'm not sure the OEM one has a rubber border like mine does. It shipped from China and was not supposed to arrive until June, but it was delivered last week. It smelled a little strange when I got it but I let it air out a few days and installed it this evening. I have not been able to compare it to the real thing, but it looks pretty good for $125! Should keep the dog from scratching up the surface when he jumps in the back.
Rimmer Bros had a reasonable price on the OEM item. Just got mine yesterday and will fit in the next few days. Thanks for the pics. Was looking for a good shot of how it would look
Great find! Did you try the magnet test? I have hesitated ordering the OEM one figuring there must be a more reasonably priced alternative.
Stainless steel can be magnetic or non magnetic, Testing using a magnet does not determine whether the stainless steel is good quality or not. It just (loosely) determines the type of stainless.
Marine grade stainless is not very magnetic for example. Yet it is very corrosion resistant.
Another **** factoid is that non-magnetic stainless steel (I forget the correct name for it) can vary in its magnetic properties. Refrigerator doors for example can be a little more magnetic on the side where the sheet of metal has been stretched by the panel pressing machine.
It’s amazing what BS one can write after a couple of glasses of wine. I shall shut up now. 😁🍷
