So I took the plunge and bought one of these (big thanks to NDM for help on this) and did the install over the past couple weeks. They have updated the instructions so there is a little more meat on them but still nothing like say the OEM winch install instructions. I would really only recommend doing it yourself if you have a garage and a secondary means of transportation and some time as while its not overly complex, I found myself ordering alternate hardware (needed shorter bolts for the recovery points as the warn winch is massive), being annoyed I had to take the PDC brackets off the old bumper so spending a week trying to find ones that fit before eventually just cutting the brackets off the old bumper, stupidly thinking the existing fog light loom wiring would power some rigid fog lights before doing separate wiring and a relay off the original to keep the switch on the indicator working and of course realizing i probably wanted an isolator on the winch which it doesn't come with
On the positive side there is a wealth of videos out there about taking off the front end of the defender. And Lucky8s install videos and a few dozen play throughs of Powerful UKs winch installation videos helped a ton! Biggest issue I ran into is that the light bar doesn't fit inside with a warn xeon winch unless you relocate the control unit. (haven't done that yet). I also think NDM has updated their description to reflect that. I recommend a good trim tool kit, a jig saw with a scroll saw blade, a vibrating saw, crimp set and heat shrink connectors, a decent wrench kit and a lot of patience. Now I just have to get out there and get myself stuck.
Wife was not pleased I took her garage spot for a few weeks. I think by here I had given up on getting the tray perfectly aligned and just tossed the winch in. Its a little dark but on the left side you can see I added two relay's One for the fog lights and one for the winch. Currently just a switch in engine bay for winch but will be adding a garmin or switch pro one of these days. Added second wiring loom and had to drill a hole in a different location to get the lights to mount flush. Nice when the lights actually work. Used a deutch plug set to be able to discconect new loom from bumper Looking far too clean, will fix that soon.
Every time I connect my IIDtool V4 to the car I got an fault for the lower vanes not detected.
Right I just unplugged and isolated them during the winch install.
Found the solution in changing the CCF
MultiCAN-631 GrillActiveVanes - Upper and Lower Grill Active Vanes fitted
Changed into : Upper Grill Active Vanes fitted only

Good reminder. I had mailed the guys at powerful UK about that and they also sent me that ccf setting but had said they hadn't had an issue without it set. I haven't plugged the IIDtool in since the install so probably will see the same fault. Will flip that bit.
