Default Rubber strips on Expedition Rack / L8 shovel and traction board mounts

I installed some Lucky 8 rack mounts recently and in the process lost / cut some of my roof rack rubber strips a bit too short. And noticed without a few of them, it really *does* whistle in the wind / on the highway.

Stopped by the local dealer today who amazingly gave me a few leftover strips they had in a box... very cool. Like, very cool.

LR/the rack manufacturer (Thule?) has changed the strips. New ones are thicker, and easier to get in the slots. The ones that had been on my car for 12-14 mos definitely are showing a bit of odd rubber deterioration (pic). So maybe this is a good thing.

The goods. Also the Deefer is thoroughly thrashed from going to La Dee Flats this past weekend in OR

New on top. Old on bottom.

You can see the weird rubber deterioration on these originals

L8 Shovel Mount

L8 maxtrax board mounts (love em btw - very cool although a bit expensive for what it is)

Rubber strips in all channels at last !

I like this pic alot
