Default Safe wheel offset numbers?

Ive started to do alot of trail riding in Uwharrie National Park. I am running 33s now but am beginning to explore moving to 35s. I know theres a number of things to consider and alter here but I want to focus my first questions around offset. I would like a wider stance and Im wondering what people have found to be the sweet spot here? I know too much can cause undo stress on the suspension and negatively affect handling. Im currently running OEM 20in rims as changing that size on the V8 seems like a nonstarter. Any experience and wisdom around offset would be awesome!
