Activity key. Some have bought extra keys though I don't know the turn around but you'll still be out that money and eventually have a third one.

I bought a new, 315 MHz Activity Key last week on eBay, from someone who ordered it but then discovered he could not use it on his base 2020 without keyless entry, and programmed it in about 30 seconds with my IIDTool, which basically paid for itself in one 30-second session. Net cost of the Activity Key, $125.00, programming cost me nothing. I got lucky, but there are deals out there, and an IIDTool is going to be useful in so many ways - besides key programming, it clears faults, it allows modifications to the CCF (I've already enabled configurable Dynamic mode on my P400), EAS calibration and adjustments, and tons of other features. I am one of the beta testers and the current firmware is nearly ready for prime time, in my opinion. As these vehicles go out of warranty, this tool will become almost a necessity for those of us who venture in the boonies.

FYI though, my first Activity Key died a couple of weeks ago after I went swimming with it on my wrist. When I came out of the water, it was dead. Display would no longer turn on, car would not open or start. Didn't even start the engine when held near the steering column. Left it to dry for days, tried recharging it. Nothing, it's a paperweight. They may be waterproof when they are new (I did wear it in the water before), but mine didn't stay that way, obviously. It lasted just over a year. Your mileage may vary, but be warned. It's such a convenient way of carrying your car key around though, I had to buy another one.

Given that we get an iOS app and the vehicles have CarPlay, do we think LR could update to include Apple Car Key so that the phone could also be a key?

Not knowing for certain, but I would think there are hardware and software requirements for Apple Car Key, and adding the hardware probably isn't feasible but I do not know that for certain.

Some quick research suggests that Apple Car Key utilizes NFC or UWB (special hardware on this one). The LR Activity Key also uses NFC I think.

Maybe there is hope? I submitted it on the app as feedback.

I talked to my dealer's service manger the other day, he said they are just now shipping 2021 Defender second key fobs. He said they are of course available to purchase for a mere $700-$800

How long are most people waiting for their 2nd key? I purchased in July and still have not received it.

I know your comment was from a while ago, but damn…the dealer owes you one, they have them in, but until it’s your turn, your only option is/was to buy one?? That’s messed up on so many different levels.
