Default Slight dull clunk when applying brakes sharply at parking speeds / front suspension

Anyone else noticing a slight clunk in the front suspension?

So for example, rolling 5mph in a parking lot, then stab the brakes. Slight clunk and feeling of movement.

If I had to describe it, it's the exact same feel and noise as an old LR3/LR4/L320 Sport when the lower control arm bushings (LCA's) start to wear and go bad.

I only have 19.5K miles so... not a ton of miles. Lots of offroad time though. Been doing this since about 10K miles which is before I first took it offroad so ... don't think I've caused it.

(2020 110X, P400, 33" K02's and 1.5 Lift Rods but notably it was doing this *prior* to these tire and lift rods)

I can't relate to the LR3 comment. But a lot of cars/trucks make the clunk sound when brake is applied as the caliper pins holding the caliper touch the side wall of the pin hold (due to grabbing the rotor). Normal sound in that case. It would be the same sound when reversing and braking, as well as forward and braking. (Could be a test you can do to confirm.)

I just bought a 2020 Defender 110 X and I'm noticing the same thing. 87K miles. What did you end up fining out? Is there any fix for this? It's driving me crazy.
Thanks!

I get a clunk but only on uneven terrain when there is a lot of suspension action. Sounds front left but sometimes it sounds like it’s coming from underneath the vehicle. Where all the AC components are.

sounds like a loose something or other. Metal on metal clunk.

never on highway nor on low speed parking. Probably different. Dealer supposedly checked the suspension but I doubt they actually did. We should compare clunks this weekend.

I know exactly what you are talking about.

I'll have to pay closer attention as to whether my experience with this is associated with braking but I definitely notice it shortly after startup during initial movements and to me it seems to be associated with steering - not necessarily cranking the wheel but when either backing out of the driveway or pulling out I get a single dull pop/clunk noise pretty frequently. 2020 110 w/ about 32k mi.

Following here for any other insights.

I hear the same clunk. Dealer said it is the transfer case locking… I’m not sure about that but they didn’t look at the car. It was over the phone.

If it is the transfer case you should see the display showing a lock symbol on the transfer case timed in combination with the clunk.

No. That ain't it. Definitely unrelated to transfer case or locking diff(s)

I think it could be something loose like the front cross member that wasn't correctly installed at port. Suspensions sounds fine on any regularish terrain. Noise is unrelated to locking/unlocking of diffs, use of hi/lo range gearing etc.

My guess is any competent tech could diagnose this very quickly if driven over the correct terrain/terrain analog. Sadly, I did not have access to one during my warranty period.
