Snorkel dorking vs dust pattern :) (and the pictures for those still considering)
I've been introduced to the concept of a "snorkel dork" yesterday (upon informing my friend that the configuration that is coming includes the RAI)
Not that I need any justification for choices I make (I'm taking my sweet time to do the homework and then, y'all remember that joke about the guy who gave three girls a $1000 each - and the "port fit" vs. "dealer fit" of a pack also played a role), but it was still interesting to take yet another look, having done research in the past and slept on it for a while. And the conclusion I make now looking at these pictures is that the RAI will be totally useless for you unless you live in a dusty place and/or drive fast through a drizzle falling on thin clay. It looks like if you drive through wet mud even without mudflaps, dirt will not get into the intake, but the drier and/or thinner it gets, the higher it gets.
For those that installed the RAI after they had a vehicle for a while, was there an event after which you said "that's it, I must have it"? One picture is worth a thousand words
For consideration, a random collection of dust/mud patterns as food for thought. Starting with this article, where you can see both muddy and dusty signatures: https://www.greencarguide.co.uk/car-...hybrid-review/
PS: for those curious, photos 3, 4, and 5 present a very rare clear view of the Front Expedition Protection System (VPLEP0386). Usually this part fades into black like on the very last photo, where it is also present but you wouldn't know it unless you know what you're looking for.
