Years ago when Canada made winter tires mandatory, there was a winter tire shortage and I had to get Blizzaks. Great at first, but once half worn they turn into an all season tire. Nokians have far deeper sipes for ice traction, plus a wear indicator that tells you how much tread is gone.
For this same reason about the Bizzaks’ winter compound being only half the tread depth, I went with Michelin X-ice Snow. They feel as good or even better than the last Bizzaks I used and I’m happier about the compound being fully winter. I’m running mine on 20’s (275/55r20) but I’ve seen them in the 225/70r18 size as well

Went with a set of Rotiforms and 275/55/20 Hakka studded tires.

Your roof tent looks amazing!

Does it change the handling of your car? Does it have increased levels of wind noise?

Which brand is it?

I am confidently driving in winter conditions with my 22’’ Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUVs. They have a separate line for direct snow contact named x-ice but we don’t have ful season winter cover so not necessary for me.

just put Michelin x-ice on this year. Will let you know how it goes, should have snow next week.

Paul, sounds like you have the r5 SUV in 275/55 20. Is that correct? Any issues at all with rubbing? I don’t see the r5s in 255/60.

Also, what wheels are you using with them?

275/55/20 fit perfectly with no rubbing and the speedometer is still accurate since overall diameter is about the same as the 255/60 OEM tires. I bought a set of five 20" take-off wheels on eBay. Probably a good idea to get 5 winter tires since it could be difficult to locate a replacement tire in late winter if you blow out a sidewall on a pothole.
