Some questions on the GAP IIDTool and use case
Hi All - I've been reading through the threads I can find regarding the GAPTool for the Defender and I have some questions about its use and how it aligns with my use case. Essentially, I'm looking for the following:
1) Ability to permanently disable the Auto-Stop Start (***).
2) Ability to clear a recurring engine light (basically about twice a year so far, I get a warning on the dash to check the gas cap, even after I do the double click technique. This eventually converts into a solid check engine light that lasts for 3-4 weeks and then goes away before I can get it to the dealer. I have had it in for service with the light on and they said they didn't see any faults and cleared the light. It seems like I can just clear it myself with this tool, which would be nice.
3) Ability to turn of the seatbelt chimes off-road
4) Ability to disable the proximity warning/parking sensors (for off-road use and for drive-through car washes).
Some additional things I'm curious about:
1) It says you can adjust the suspension level settings. Does this mean you can program in a 1.5" lift without lift-rods? This would mean you could put on bigger tires and then just manually adjust the height until they clear.
2) Where does this thing plug into? Once plugged in, do you leave it permanently affixed or do you plug it in, do you changes, and remove it?
3) It seems like the G3 is available now on various websites, but in another thread people were mentioning the G4. Is this version something that can be changed via firmware update?
For reference I have a 2022 D110 P400.
Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

For you first block of questions - 1,2, and 3 are all yes. You'll be able to do all of that. The seat belts you can stop the bonging on either the front or back, or both. I chose just the front since I drive around our marina towing a boat between launches. But, I have kids so I want to know if they are buckled in.
For #2 you'll be able to see more detail regarding the issue.
For #4 that one I haven't seen executed. Not saying it's not there, but haven't heard if it.
For your second block of questions.
#1 - not sure. I have coils. Others with air can chime in, but I do think that this is possible.
#2 - OBDII plug on the drivers side. Look at the bottom of the dash near the outside side of of the footwell. It's a big goofy looking plug.
#3 - G3 is out there for the public. G4 is in beta. You can order a G3 and get going today. Then upgrade it to a G4 later if you want. Or wait for the G4 to be public.
It's not a cheap tool, but wow there is a lot of functionality. This isn't something that you click X,Y,Z and everything is perfect every time. BUT, it is very close. A lot of the CCF changes you read are working in many versions of the Defender.
If you don't have an X Dynamic you can add in Auto Cruise Control (ACC) with a few toggles of an app.
You can add trailer assist which is where you use the HVAC controls to back a trailer just by aiming it with the dial. The truck does all the rest.
You can clear codes that are just a nuisance. For example. One of my key fobs wouldn't unlock the door, but would lock the doors. The other fob worked fine. I cleared all the errors using the reader and boom... both fobs work fine now. That would have been a trip to the dealer for them to perform the same task.
Of all the things I've bought for my Defender this tool is the more valuable one as far as functionality and ease of use. It's not hard to learn and it's been great to look behind the curtain and see how it all works.

Thanks! I appreciate your thoughts. I think I'm going to pull the trigger. Not sure $500 bucks is worth it for just the auto-stop start when you can get a plug in module that does the same in a Chevy for 80 bucks, but all the other features start to make the value proposition a bit more palatable. Especially if you can use it for a cheap lift without physically adding lift-rods.
I have a P400 SE, so adding the auto cruise control is interesting... I almost never use cruise control to begin with because I don't like giving up any input control, but that could be worth playing with.
