I've an air compressor and a repair kit behind the second row seats with my recovery gear but I'd be squirrelly as a cornered virgin without a spare of some sort. Is there an aftermarket run flat product for these tires. I had something like that on my last car, an MDX. About as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit when we got some sidewall damage. Never again.

well if I was gonna off road, of course I would put it back on, but I drove Porsches that didn’t have a spare for over ten years and I don’t think I was ever in a jam. Maybe once I had to tow it to a place.

I was more talking about on road. Always a PITA. Not being able to get going again is a major PITA. That's why I was asking about the flat repair kit that comes with a lot of cars in lieu of a spare. Maybe get something like that and throw it under the seats. That way you're in a better spot if you do get a small tread puncture. Get the look you like while keeping some self-recovery capability.

I'm not sure to be honest. The kit on my Acura had two parts. One side squirted in a pressurized goop (that's the recognized scientific nomenclature I believe) into the tyre and the other had compressed air. Supposedly good to last for 5 years. Mine was there 8+.

Perhaps there are size constraints on the type of tyre it can repair. A lot of cars come with an OEM kit rather than a donut spare.

Here is the one I had. Wendy!, take it away

I would just buy the tire plug kit from Walmart. You will not be stranded anymore

Personally, not a fan of the spray can, goop repairs. Those really mess up the inside of a tire. Most tire repair places won't work on them afterwards. I keep this in my Defender or take with me on any longish trip:

.

I admit that it's not as simple as the spray things, but this is the same the pro's use. Watch a video, practice once on an old tire, and you'll never go back.

Yeah thats the best way.. but finding the leak is difficult on the side of the road.. I think maybe if you keep some water and something that makes suds, you could remove wheel and coat it and then look for bubbles to find the leak and use the kit.

Difficult, but not impossible.

I have the same one and a small compressor that runs off the 110V outlet in the back. Tucked in under the rear seats.

The goop/inflator combos are a small lightweight option for an SUV or car. Just a band aid to get you to the tire-store. A weight saver for manufacturers and mileage specs I guess.
