steering column rubbing/squeal
so I posted something similar a while back...but I have determined it is not the wheel or axle or anything stuck in between. What it is, is when I turn sharply like into a parking space or into my garage the squeak is coming from the steering column. something is in there rubbing in something, only happens while I am turning the wheel not when turned and moving. I did research and it appears that in earlier LR models it was an issue....there has to be someone out there today that has this, can't be the only one...its a 24 LR P300 110. It's not a safety issue as far as I can tell at this point just something in the steering column.........thoughts???
Yes, it’s a 2022. I actually have to go to the dealership today so I can ask for a copy of the work done on it and can post what the solution was.
It sounds like it might be the airbag/horn/electrical switch "clock spring" has gone bad -- which is a rotating / swiveling plastic component that allows the electrical things to still work when you turn the wheel. The part of them that allows the rotations does go bad, and when they do, you get a scraping noise (or perhaps a rubbing/squeal).
It's behind the airbag on the steering wheel.
