Stupid question. Shutting truck off
So I’ve always done the 2 step process when completing a drive. Hit the P button, then the ignition off button. I must admit it is a routine that after 1 year still does not come naturally to me.
I have on occasions simply hit the ignition button off while still in drive, foot on the brake of course.
Is there a problem with just doing it this way, using the off to turn it off, which automatically puts it in park?

That shouldn’t pose any issues, it’s just a fail safe built into the system preventing one from leaving it in gear where it could roll after shutting down. I feel like either method is proper. I’ve probably done the same thing a few times when I’m in a rush and not paying attention while gathering stuff to exit the vehicle. There are no warnings or admonitions in the manual advising one to avoid shutting down that way. I wouldn’t worry, but next time you’re at the dealership you could inquire. Post your findings here if you end up looking into it.
I guess it is a matter of habit. Hitting the power button off will not hurt the car as it will put itself in the park position. I personally always hit the park and then shut the engine off. I also always engage my parking brake as well.

Does your parking brake not automatically engage? Mine does always activates the EPB when the transmission is in park.
