heard from powerfuluk on the above issue. they said they are seeing this happen and not sure as to the cause... where the holder opens fine on its side, but not in the overhead position.

fantastic support from them with quick responses... super impressed!

passing on the info in case it happens to others. cheers!

Default powerfuluk sunglass holder update

wow! cant say enough good things about @PowerfulUK! i purchased the sunglass holder from them and ran into issues, like others, with it not staying closed. they were incredible... offering a full refund. i decided to keep it, thinking i might spend more time with it later.

heard from them last week. they fabricated a brace to solve the issue. not only that but they didnt charge me for the brace or shipping stateside!

really appreciate simon and the great team at powerfuluk! top notch customer service!

I was reading this with interest. I picked up a new Evoque R Dynamic for my wife yesterday. While going through the all the dealer checkout, I noticed it too lacked the sunglass holder and had the shiny piece of plastic and remarked, "they deleted the sunglass holder on this as well." The Sales rep replied,"it is a sensor for the airbags to detect front occupants and regulate deployment." So that appears to perhaps be a bit of clever fabrication after the insight of reading through all this. Now my wife could care less, since she uses the Maui Jim's, which will not fit anyhow. The Evoque is quite a fun car to drive, I was impressed. I wonder if the Defender and it will mate and produce a litter of baby Defenders.

That would be the 90, no? Minus the Evoque lineage of course.

Installed sunglass holder yesterday but it seems to be catching on open. Any suggestions?

Can't watch your video but do you mean it's not closing and staying open? Simon went over this recently on

Thanks. No mine actually catches on open. I’ll try and upload video that will work. Unfortunately I can't get a video to upload. When I push on the door to open it goes up a little and then catches on the way down and will not open.. Need to pull out an investigate further.

** update: I fiddled with the sunglass holder and got it working smoothly!

Love this! I have requested the bracket as I am having the issue. IMO this is why LR stopped with the sunglasses holder. The design is/was too finicky to manage. I would be interested to see if the newest vehicles which I am reading have the holder from the factory actually have a slightly different design under the surface or perhaps the console has been beefed up so as to not bend.
