Default Tapping into power outlet in rear of center console w/ Jeep harness

I hardwired in a GMRS radio (side note, awesome new hood hinge bracket for the stubby antenna from Saltek Motorsports which I bought from their website). Anyway, to tap off the rear power plug (not USB, the one with the lighter-style socket), I did not want to cut wires or alter the vehicle harness.

-- Looked at Simon's splitter harnesses...which are great but I wanted to complete the project this week, not wait for international shipping
-- Thought about sourcing a female connectorplug to use on my GMRS radio wiring, however, then I lose 1 rear power port and I couldn't find the proper connector anyways.
-- Finally, I figured out Jeeps use the same exact plug style that JLR does on the rear of the power ports. (3 prong)

Bought this from Amazon at 6pm, had it 10am the next day and now all wired in perfectly.

. Harness appears to be decent enough quality and it worked properly.

And the pic from the Saltek Motorsports website -- my antenna now looks exactly like this.

Good to know. I was going to put usb back since mine is missing but dealer said they will do it when they get some.

i wired my radio to the battery by fishing wire down center console. Does yours shut off with ignition? That is an advantage of your method.

I got the bracket for light with a bar for antenna also. I got the magnetic antenna mount but found that the hood is aluminum. 😜

i need to punch through that grommet for the switch pro and this antenna. Did you find the hole you left after antenna is tight?

Hi. yup. I did it just like the Lucky8 instructions for their lightbar - right underneath the “A” in “Land Rover” … on the big rubber grommet where the steering shaft goes through… It was very easy.

I did buy a separate antenna cable that has a detachable end so I only needed to punch through about the thickness of a standard pencil…. I was worried about the standard Midland antenna cable’s large connector punching through that rubber grommet.

Anyways, I used a slightly hot tip of a soldering iron to go through (from the outside in) - the grommet did not rip. Plus, it is very snug around the antenna cable… So I am convinced it will be watertight.
