tire issue
Ya know I was all proud of ourselves for ordering the active differential stuff WITHOUT the off-road tires until this past week when, and I kid you not, a ROCK from our gravel DRIVEWAY punctured and ruined one of our Scorpion tires with only 2k miles on it! Ugh. Guess that was a mistake.

We THOUGHT we wanted the road biased tires since that's most of the use for this vehicle and we have my Jeep for OBX runs (dunes/beaches). Of course now the wife wants to take the Defender on the next OBX run so hopefully aired down these tires will do ok for now. Guess we'll upgrade the tires once these are worn sufficiently.
I'd heard that it changed, but back on the 2020 models you didn't HAVE to order the off-road pack to get the electronic active diff and the ATPC. I forget the details, like if it required the tow package too or something like that. We played with the configurator about two dozen times trying to come up with exactly what we wanted before we ordered it. It allowed us to get the features we wanted (including the black 19" wheels).

We didn't get the off-road pack per se as evidenced by the Pirelli Scorpion tires. But we were able to get all the other parts of the pack, including the ediff.
That said it was 2020 and the options have changed since.

As someone coming from Audi I've had way too much experience with Pirelli tires as they often come stock on Audi Q3/Q5 ... anyway. Very poor tires IMO. Do not hold up well at all, and terrible on snow. When they wore out I'd always choose something else, anything else. I think I went with Yokohama on the Q3 and then Continentals on the Q5, Continentals were pretty good on snow fwiw. Not sure what would be the best road tire for a Defender all-season wise, I chose the off-road tires on mine. Bottom line though I'd avoid Pirelli at all costs, maybe they were better years ago.
