Default Tow package and recovery hooks

All,
I've been searching through the forum and haven't found a specific answer. I have a 2022 Defender on order that I specced with the offroad package and the tow package. I'd like to add the recovery hooks to the back, but I remember seeing somewhere that the recovery hooks mount to the unibody at the same hard points that the tow hitch does. Is this true, and does this preclude you from adding recovery hooks to the Defender?

My 2021 has the off road and tow pack and I was able to add the recovery hooks. I followed the powerfuluk video and it took about 30 minutes.

Thanks for the reply. Thats reassuring, but now I'm even more curious where the trailer hitch attaches to.

Basically the rear cross member is replaced with the trailer hitch. Onto that the tow hooks mount. Essentially, you can see it on Installation - Step 20 (Link)

Brilliant. Thank you! That clears it up. The recovery hooks are definitely more sturdy for recovers than using a recovery hook mounted to the 2" receiver would be, even though they both are attached to the tow bar, you don't have to worry about the limitations of the pin holding the a recovery loop to the receiver.

I tried to install the hooks following the powerful uk video and I could not get the bumper off and around the tow hitch. In the video they just pull down, which I was able to do to remove the clips. But then the tow hitch is in the way. I could not figure out how to remove it with the hitch there.

I am not a super mechanically inclined person and it took me a while to unbolt and rebolt the bumper. Ultimately after a few hours I gave up. If you can figure it out let me know.

Not sure what model you ordered, but I was surprised when my X-Dynamic SE showed up with rear tow hooks in place. I believe all the models from X-Dynamic up have them. And maybe some models below X-Dynamic. Worth checking into, at any rate.

Finally tackled the project this weekend. Not sure if this might have been your problem, but I noticed there were two screws in the wheel wells. The video only showed one. You have to remove the two with Philips heads. I was struggling to remove the bumper until I figured this out.
