Looking to buy off the lot- Can the Advanced Tow Assist package and towing assembly be added at the dealership?

 

No, it cannot. You should make sure you buy one that already has it equipped. It is fairly hard to locate, because many dealers don't list the specs by pack. I have found that running the VINs in topix, I could look for the combination of a hitch and terrain response 2 with configurable terrain response to be a fairly reliable indicator of whether tow assist was equipped. Double check the window sticker at the dealership, though.

 

When I ordered my Defender, the dealer stated that it was good that I checked off the advance tow package as it can not be added after it was delivered.

 

Thanks, that's what I feared- Most of the defenders available on the lots are very highly spec'd with IMHO the wrong options!
